Iowa Onsite Wastewater
Training Center
2008 Training Schedule
For several years, the Iowa Onsite Waste Water Association (IOWWA)
has worked hard to establish a funding stream to create a first class
on-site wastewater training center in central Iowa. All of this hard
work has finally paid off as the Iowa Onsite Wastewater Training Center
(IOWTC) is now a reality. This accomplishment has been achieved in large
part thanks to a cooperative effort with the Iowa Department of Natural
Resources (IDNR), USDA Rural Development (USDA-RD), and Des Moines Area
Community College (DMACC).
Through a Iowa DNR grant earmarked for funding on-site wastewater
treatment training opportunities, DMACC is working side by side with
IOWWA to establish a training center. An advisory committee was formed
to make decisions on all aspects of the training facility from
technology selection to picking training session speakers. This board
consists of one representative from the Iowa Environmental Health
Association (IEHA), one representative from the Iowa Department of
Public Health (IDPH), one representative from USDA-RD, one
representative from IDNR, one representative from DMACC, and four
representatives from IOWWA. IOWWA representatives on the advisory
committee are Bob McKinney, Jeff Iverson, Craig Just, and Justin Volrath.
The training facility is located at DMACC’s main campus in Ankeny. The
facility is directly adjacent to a classroom building that can be used
for training purposes. The outside area of the training facility allows
for the installation of many different technologies to provide attendees
with hands-on experience. Hands-on installation and field installed models
of each technology will be featured at each workshop.
One of the top priorities of the IOWTC advisory committee is to also
ensure that training opportunities are available throughout Iowa.
Therefore, in addition to the training sessions that are scheduled at
Ankeny in 2007, additional sessions will held in various locations
around the state. Our goal is to provide you the highest quality and
most accessible training and we need your input to continue improving
our service to you. Many of the IOWTC training session locations and
topics are chosen based upon requests from contractors and regulators. If you have specific training needs in your
area, please contact us.
