Goal: This course provides an overview of the critical steps in the site evaluation process to gain the necessary information for a site specific design that will work long term for the dwelling, site and soil conditions. It covers the many key aspects of soils that impact the type, size and appropriate location for siting a soil based wastewater treatment system. These key aspects will include: soil color, texture and structure as well as percolation tests. There will be a hands-on assessment of these soil properties in the afternoon field session providing attendees with an opportunity to practice their newly-learned soil evaluation skills as they relate to site evaluation for wastewater treatment systems.
