IOWWA HOMEOWNER FOLDER

This past year, the IOWWA Board worked on designing a Homeowner Education Folder for our members to purchase and hand out while servicing or installing new septic systems.  The folder has information for the specifics of the system and household, a maintenance record section, installer / designer / maintenance provider information, information on how to locate a septic system, DO & DONTS of maintaining a septic system, and a place to add the diagram of the system as well as your contact information.  The folder was also designed with a pocket so you can add other information as well.  You can purchase these folders for $1.00 per folder in increments of 10.  You can have them directly shipped to you or you can pick them up from one of your Board members, just specify your preferred method of delivery at the time of order.  To order, you can print out and complete the Order Form order form.   For questions, please email execdir@iowwa.com.

Soil-based Wastewater Treatment  - Published by the Soil Science Society of America

Soil-based Wastewater Treatment addresses the needs of practitioners, engineers, scientists, regulators, resource managers, planners, and others with a need to know about septic systems. It arose after discussions about the need for a text that integrated current understanding of the hydrologic, physical, chemical, and biological processes involved in the treatment of wastewater using soil. In the authors' experience, people have a fragmented understanding of what these systems are, how they function, how wastewater moves through soil, how and which pollutants are removed, and how these systems impact the environment and public health. The relevant information is scattered across disciplines, information sources and audiences. This book is an attempt to collect and integrate this information in one place, and provide a scientific framework for understanding soil-based.
